Soft light - flash and centerpieces

As a photographer, there are many times where we are faced with a beautiful center piece to capture for the family to remember many days and years after the event.  In order to reduce the amount of 'glare' and harsh light from this subject, I pointed the flash straight up and bounced the light off the white ceiling.  The ceiling was approximately 8 feet high and provided a tremendous bounce resource.  My camera was set to manual - f/6.3 & 160/second.  ISO 200.  The light softly bathed the image creating a minimal shadow.
As a photographer, whether we are shooting a family event, a social event, or wedding, we have the great privilege of being a visual historian.  I never take this privilege and honor lightly. Many years from now the family and friends will look back and remember their historical event.
As always, get out and capture the beauty of life!
